Copyright investigations (manual article tagging)
[edit]
Not just this section; other sections have violated the copyrights of the domain website's pages of the following domains: http://www.soapcentral.com/amc/whoswho/ and http://www.pinevalleybulletin.com/. See List of All My Children miscellaneous characters (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) --Gh87 (talk) 07:26, 19 October 2011 (UTC) --Gh87 (talk) 17:26, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Deleted. We cannot use text from earlier versions of the article even if it was clean as it violates attribution of our own contributors. Given that much of the text was patently a copyvio, we can't restore it, either. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:00, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

() Maria Santos (All My Children) (history · last edit) from http://www.soapcentral.com/amc/whoswho/maria.php. No further explanation needed except: this copied and pasted the webpage. Gh87 (talk) 07:28, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Per Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2011 October 19, the redirect pages have been nominated for discussion. I haven't close the discussion yet, but Gillian Andrassy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Gillian Andrassy Lavery (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), and Jenny Gardner (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) have history logs of revisions that have violated copyrights of other websites as shown above. Need I repeat the sources further? --Gh87 (talk) 17:26, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. This Storyline section is your fault. Because the Storyline section was removed. And you added it back just to report a copyright violation here. No doubt to try and get this article deleted, since it was saved from deletion and you can't accept that. All of these articles you listed are in the hopes of getting them deleted, no matter that some of them have just been saved from deletion. If a plot summary violates copyright, then remove it. Truly, it's that simple. 82.200.168.154 (talk) 01:20, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not exactly.:) What we can do in this case is use the tag {{copyvio-revdel}}. Please remember to WP:AGF. Efforts to clean up copyright problems should be lauded. Alternatively, Gh87, you can ask an administrator (like me) to do a revision deletion, but really we shouldn't add the content back in most cases. The only time I've ever done that myself is when I've removed one passage thinking that it was the extent of a problem and then immediately discovered it was not. I have sometimes reverted so that the content could be addressed more easily in one go. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:08, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. Like I stated to Gh87, let me point out that editors of Soap Central character biographies have been known to plagiarize Wikipedia. So just because both sites say the same thing, it does not mean that it was Wikipedia who plagiarized them. This may also be the case for other soap opera sites. 174.137.184.36 (talk) 01:31, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. That website existed since 1997. What about Terms of Use? Does it mean anything? Also, Wikipedia is not a substitute for SoapCentral or other soap opera sites that DO NOT infringe copyrights of Wikipedia articles, unless the Wikipedia articles are proven to be not copyrighted. SoapCentral has proven its copyright notice; has they falsified copyright registration? Has it copied or paraphrased Wikipedia articles and not credited Wikipedia? Or has editors of Wikipedia, admin or not, copied-and-pasted SoapCentral's webpages that may infringe the rights of SoapCentral? --Gh87 (talk) 02:25, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
UPDATE: The editors of SoapCentral contacted me. I gave the list of articles that have been tagged for copyright infringements. They told me that the act of copying and pasting SoapCentral's articles is not permitted. Can anyone prove that they are manipulating me into trusting them? Right now, I trust SoapCentral editors. --Gh87 (talk) 07:50, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said at Gh87's talk page, "It does not matter that Soap Central has copyright notifications in the media, because they are still committing plagiarism. No, I cannot prove that they are plagiarizing Wikipedia articles, but I can attest to what I have seen and know. Their character bios are written by volunteers (aka fans). I have seen new character articles on that site consist of character bio plot summaries that were on Wikipedia first. This has also been observed by users of that site." 174.137.184.36 (talk) 23:14, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And how are we to believe that Soap Central contacted Gh87? 174.137.184.36 (talk) 23:17, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here is proof that SoapCentral copies Wikipedia. While trying to see if SoapCentral plagiarizing Wikipedia has been discussed anywhere here before, by using "Search," I located the Talk:Téa Delgado#Soap Opera Central not above copying Wikipedia discussion. I then researched this issue by using the Wayback Machine, and this is what I found. Look at this text:

Two years later, Téa returned to town for a brief visit. She visited Todd, and it was evident that Todd was still hurt by her having left him. Todd next ran into Téa in Hawaii. Blair and Sam Rappaport had secretly gone to Hawaii with Manning kids Starr and Jack, but Blair's bodyguards tipped Todd off and he followed them there. Téa warned Blair about Todd's plan to kidnap the kids, allowing Blair and the children to safely return to Llanview. Todd's plan to kidnap his children having gone awry, he ended up shipwrecked on a deserted island with Téa and Ross Rayburn, a man Todd had hired to help him with the kidnapping. Todd and Ross both vied for Téa's affections. After Todd spied Téa kissing Ross, he decided to leave the island alone. As he prepared to depart, Téa showed up and told Todd that she was in love with him and always had been. A wave of emotions came over Todd and he admitted to Téa that he wanted to be with her, too. The two then made love for the first time. Afterwards, however, Téa discovered that Todd still had a picture of Blair and painfully realized that he was still in love with Blair, despite having earlier sworn that he was through with her. Though hurt by this realization, Téa gave her blessing for Todd to romantically reunite with Blair. Desperate to get home to his family, Todd risked his life by getting on a make shift raft and rowing out into sea. He washed up on a beach in Guam, and from there made his way back to Llanview. Téa and Ross were later rescued.

The Téa Wikipedia article had it first. It was created on July 22, 2008.[1] On July 4, 2008, SoapCentral's looked like this and it was still that way on December 19, 2008.[2] So it's easy to see that SoapCentral copied Wikipedia. This is also discussed at User talk:Moonriddengirl#Concern regarding inexperienced editor tagging things as possibly copyrighted. 85.195.138.27 (talk) 08:31, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
